Ignition
Point
AVAILABLE FOR PERFORMANCE
Ignition Point - a movement-based ecological performance devised
and performed by Sandra Reeve.
A
car scrapyard. An ageing woman's body. Body parts. Licence to move.
This
indoor environment includes a movement art video (Peter Batty),
created at Seacombe Ledges, edited in juxtaposition to the car scrapyard
environment which is brought into the studio through photographs
(Dave West), recorded text (Jenna Kumiega) and sound. These elements,
combined with live violin music (Eleanor Davis) and movement create
a poignant piece about beauty, transience, life-cycles, consumerism,
memory, ageing and loss. The human figure is seen as one system
within a complex of dynamic ecological systems which create the
fabric of life. Body, feelings and thought are all part of those
systems. The piece invites you as audience to engage with your own
stories in relation to these issues, much as a poem both evokes
environments for you to experience but then also leaves space for
you to feel your own reality in relation to the poem.
